Louth killings: Mother and nine-year-old son stabbed to death – police officer injured in manhunt for murder suspect

Police are hunting a 29-year-old man after a mother and her nine-year-old son were stabbed to death in Lincolnshire.

Detectives are appealing for information or sightings of Daniel Boulton after the 26-year-old woman and her child were found dead in Louth on Monday.

Lincolnshire Police has warned the public not to approach Boulton after an off-duty officer was believed to have been injured by him in the Hubbard’s Hills area of the town today.

Detectives say Boulton and the victims were known to each other and that another young child was discovered at the property.

Lincolnshire Police’s head of crime, Detective Chief Superintendent Andy Cox, said: "We understand there is speculation that the child was abducted. This was not the case and the child has been safeguarded."

In a statement, the force said: "We have launched a murder investigation after a woman and child were found dead at a property in Louth.

"Our officers were called to an address in High Holme Road at 8.29pm on Monday May 31 after being informed by our colleagues in the ambulance service.

"Sadly, a 26-year-old woman and her nine-year-old son were confirmed to have died. Both victims suffered multiple stab wounds and a knife believed to have been used to inflict the injuries was recovered at the scene.

"Following this incident, which we are treating as murder, Lincolnshire Police launched an appeal to locate and arrest Daniel Boulton, aged 29, in connection with this incident."
